Description:

Curra's Dom is not exactly a Mexican Restaurant.  They offer, what the owner calls, "Modern Mexican Cuisine" but in my humble opinon would be better labled "Latin Fusion".  If you  are looking for a cheap Mexican restaurant then this is not the place to come.  However, if you are looking for an amazing fine dining culinary experience then you have come to the right place.  You will not be disappointed.  Rick Daniels, chef, nationally syndocated writter and food reviewer for the Citizen Times gave it 4 stars. (see reviews below)

Curra's offers a seasonal menu of authentic dishes from the interior of Mexico using locally grown ingredients.  Old Mexican favorites like Pan Roasted Lamb Rack with Chipolte glazed Carrots, roast shallot White bean puree and a Tamrind Demi Glace.  And don't forget the Cumin , dusted Scallops with Roasted Pumpkin, braised Chard with a Saffron Cream sauce.  Like I said, this is not exactly Mexican food.  Curras also has an excellent wine list and a full bar.  The Avocado Margaritas are amazing.   If you love great dining experiences then be sure to visit this gem of a restaurant.

Taking Mexican food to the next level ...

Curras Dom, a good Asheville restaurant to try out....tasty!

Curras Dom is just north of Beaver Lake, on Merrimon Ave. across the street from the entrance to Reynolds mountain. Marie and I went in the other night… we were surprised to find it so charming...

While a bit pricey, the food at Curras Dom is fantastic
Rick McDaniel,CITIZEN-TIMES CORRESPONDENT,9/23/2008

The back story: Curras Dom opened in November in North Asheville. The restaurant has two sister locations in Austin, Texas, both called Curras Grill. The night the reviewer was there: We hit Curras Dom on a recent weeknight, and it was pretty well packed. We were seated immediately in spite of getting the last space in the parking lot.
... Service: Outstanding. The waiter we had was very attentive and personable with good knowledge of the menu. 4 stars
...The verdict: Even though on a busy night the acoustics will keep you yelling "What?" too often for my taste and the dinner entrees are a bit on the pricey side, the food at Curras Dom is fantastic. Definitely a case where the whole outweighs the sum of its parts. 4 stars
